The Elcano Royal Institute has undertaken specific research projects within the framework of international, European and domestic programmes, with the goal of placing the Institute at the forefront of cooperative research in the pan-European context, contributing to the Spanish presence in research processes aimed at aiding EU decision-making and giving impetus to the setting up of international strategic studies to reflect Spanish interests. All this is on the basis of innovation, scientific excellence, methodical analysis, transfer of knowledge and the harnessing of results.
Through its Project Management Office, set up in 2014, the Elcano Royal Institute has promoted the Institute’s candidacy in public and private bids for funding, identifies strategic partners and manages networks of collaborative alliances.

Description: To understand the dynamics of polarisation, to raise awareness among local stakeholders and strengthen their capacity to reduce collective vulnerability to radicalisation by way of mitigating and managing polarisation.
Project name: MINDb4ACT
Description: Mapping, Identifying and Developing skills and opportunities in operating environments to co-create innovative, ethical and effective Actions to tackle radicalization leading to violent extremism.
Project name: J-SAFE
Description: To explore prison radicalisation, the related strategies or risk assessment tools already implemented in order to identify gaps and lacks in preventing radicalisation that leads to terrorism in European countries’ prisons.
Project name: MUSTEC
Description: To explore and put forward solutions aimed at overcoming the problems impeding the current and future deployment of concentrated solar power projects capable of supplying renewable electricity to the countries of central and northern Europe.
